Messaging policy
Last updated: September 2026
The short version
We text people who have asked us to. Reply STOP to any message and we stop, permanently. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. We never sell or share mobile numbers for anyone else’s marketing.
Who sends these messages
Relationship Foundry, LLC sends them, on behalf of the products it operates. Today that is Our Next Conversation (ournextconversation.com), a subscription that gives an older adult a guided set of questions about their life and lets their family hear the answers. Our Launch Year is the same product for families with a student away at college and is still in development.
What we send
Every one of these is about an account the person is part of. We do not send promotional or advertising texts.
- Sign-in codes. A six-digit code, sent only at the moment someone asks for one on our sign-in screen. We use no passwords, so this is how people get in.
- Progress updates. A short note to family members when the person telling the stories finishes a week of activities.
- Replies and turns. When somebody answers a question you asked, or it is your turn in the family guessing game, the person waiting is told.
- Reminders. When a new week of questions becomes available, and ahead of birthdays and anniversaries a family has asked us to remember.
- Questions by text. Some members prefer to answer a question by replying to a message rather than opening a web page. Where that is on, we send the question and accept the reply.
How people opt in
We only ever text a number someone has given us, and we record what they agreed to and when. There are three ways a number reaches us.
- They enter it themselves on our sign-in screen. We use no passwords, so signing in means typing your mobile number and tapping a button to be sent a six-digit code. The consent language sits on that screen, directly above the button, with links to these terms — and we store the exact wording shown alongside the date. This is how most consent on file is recorded.
- They set it in their own notification settings, where the choice between email, text, both, or neither is theirs to change at any time.
- The purchaser supplies it, for a gift. Memberships are usually bought for somebody else — an adult child buying for a parent — so the buyer may enter the recipient’s mobile number at checkout. When they do, they must tick a box confirming they have that person’s permission and that the person is expecting to hear from us. We store that attestation with its date. The recipient controls their own settings from the first time they sign in, and the moment they sign in by text their own consent replaces the purchaser’s on our records.
Whichever way it happens, anyone can switch to email only, or stop messages entirely, at any point — in their settings or by replying STOP.
How often
It varies by person and by what is happening in their family. Sign-in codes arrive only when someone requests one. Progress updates default to once a week at most. Messages about a reply or a turn arrive when that thing actually happens, which for most families is a handful of times a month. Nobody is put on a recurring marketing schedule, because we do not run one.
How to stop
Reply STOP to any message. That takes effect immediately and covers every message from us, not just the one you replied to. It is handled by our messaging carrier, which means it works even if our own systems are down — and it is not something we can undo from our side, so a person who stops stays stopped until they choose otherwise.
To turn messages down rather than off, every member has notification settings inside their account where they can choose email instead of text, or reduce updates to a weekly summary. Reply HELP to any message for contact details.
Cost
We do not charge for messages. Message and data rates may apply from your own mobile carrier, and delivery is not guaranteed — carriers and handsets sometimes block or delay messages for reasons outside our control. Everything we send by text is also available by email and on the website, so nothing is reachable only by phone.
What we do with mobile numbers
No mobile information is sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Numbers are used to deliver the messages described above and nothing else.
We do share numbers with the messaging provider that transmits the texts on our behalf, which is the only way a message can be delivered. That provider processes the data for us under contract and may not use it for its own purposes. Full detail is in our privacy policy.
